Trooper Randy K. Ingram was killed on Interstate 15 south of Nephi. 

At 9:30 p.m., Trooper Ingram was parked in the right-hand emergency lane at milepost #208, writing a warning citation to a motorist. While Trooper Ingram was seated in his patrol vehicle, he was struck from behind by a semi-truck. The impact crushed the patrol vehicle, killing Trooper Ingram instantly. The driver of the truck later pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent homicide. Trooper Ingram was married and the father of two children. He is buried in Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi. In 1998, the Utah Highway Patrol Association posted its first memorial cross at milepost #208.

    I pass your memorial flag at least twice a year and each time I remember how your life was cut short so suddenly and needlessly. I pray you are resting in peace. Thank you for your service to our State.
