Officer Harold A. Peterson, Sr. was killed in a traffic accident.

On April 11, Deputy Leon A. May and other law enforcement officers were searching the Bear River for the body of man missing for a week.

Detective Owen T. Farley was shot and killed by a robbery suspect.

Sergeant Wesley Rosette was killed in a traffic accident while on a prisoner extradition in Utah.

Sergeant Thomas W. Stroud was accidentally killed at the Salt Lake City Police station.

Marshal Alonzo T. Larsen was shot and killed after serving only a month as a law enforcement officer.
