Deputy Oscar Fullmer

Deputy Oscar Fullmer died in a Bingham Canyon traffic crash. 

During a murder investigation, Deputy Fullmer and Hispanic civilian interpreter Paul Perea were descending the canyon in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Deputy Fullmer failed to negotiate a curve near Black Rock Canyon. The vehicle plunged into a steep ravine and overturned several times, killing both men. Deputy Fullmer was married and the father of eight children. He is buried in Salt Lake City Cemetery.  Mr. Perea was married and the father of two young children. He is buried in Bingham Cemetery.

    I am Oscar Fullmer’s granddaughter. What your article fails to mention is that Oscar failed to negotiate the turn because the steering column broke as he was descending the mountain. That was the cause of him not being able to negotiate the turn. It wasn’t because of his lack of experience or ability.
