Fallen Officers

Sergeant Cory B. Wride was shot and killed while assisting a stranded motorist.

Sergeant Derek R. Johnson was shot and killed while on uniformed patrol in the early morning hours of September 1, 2013.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Aaron R. Beesley died from a fall during a search and rescue operation in Salt Lake County. 

Officer Jared D. Francom was shot and killed while serving a “knock and announce” search warrant in the Ogden area.

Deputy Brian B. Harris was shot and killed while tracking a burglary suspect in the desert near Fredonia, Arizona.

Officer Joshua Yazzie died when his patrol vehicle rolled 200 feet down an embankment on the side of Bottle Hollow Dam on the Ute Tribe reservation in Duchesne County.

Sergeant Franco R. Aguilar died instantly as the result of a fall from a freeway overpass.
Sergeant Aguilar had responded to the scene of a one-car traffic crash atop the Fish Creek overpass on Interstate 70, approximately 12 miles east of Interstate 15.

Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox was shot and killed during a traffic stop on Highway 50, one mile east of Delta.

Officer Charles B. Skinner died of injuries suffered while responding to a call for assistance from another agency pursuing a stolen car.

Officer Stephen R. Anderson was murdered by a Utah State Prison inmate he was escorting to the University Hospital’s orthopedic clinic in Salt Lake City.
